Much of the violence is under-reported leaving a distorted picture of the cycle of violence. From the start of the roadmap process, this blog will try to catalog any violence resulting in deaths on either side, as well as the number of wounded with one entry per event. It also includes violence against peace activists and charitable volunteers. Prior violence is cataloged for context only.

Israel kills 8, wounds 13
Israeli Strike on Hamas Dwelling Kills 8 | May 20, 10:12 PM (ET) | By SARAH EL DEEB
GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) - Israel's air force fired a missile at a house in Gaza City late Sunday, killing at least eight people, residents and hospital officials said. The strike followed a decision to step up attacks against Islamic militants in response to rocket fire from Gaza. Israeli air attacks on militant targets earlier in the day killed another three Palestinians.
The attack on the house was the deadliest airstrike since Israel started reprisals Tuesday for the rocket barrages.
The house belonged to Hamas lawmaker Khalil al-Haya, who was not at home. He was one of the Hamas representatives in cease-fire talks with Fatah and was attending an Egyptian-sponsored truce meeting just before the strike, residents said.
The missile hit a room used as a meeting place for the extended family, relatives said. Hospital officials said eight people were killed and 13 injured.
All the dead and wounded were relatives and neighbors, al-Haya's wife said. Hamas said two of the dead were militants. ...

JERUSALEM - Israeli troops killed more than 650 Palestinians last year — half of them unarmed civilians including some 120 children — a threefold increase from 2005, a leading human rights group said Wednesday.
In its annual 2007 global report, Amnesty International also criticized
Israel for deepening the poverty in Palestinian territories by withholding customs duties and widening a network of blockades and other travel restrictions.
The group accused soldiers and settlers of committing "serious human rights abuses, including unlawful killings, against Palestinians, mostly with impunity." No such killings were documented in the report.
The number of Israelis killed by Palestinian armed groups diminished by half last year, to 27, including 20 civilian adults and one child, the report said.
By The Associated Press' count, 580 people were killed on the Palestinian side and 34 on the Israeli side in 2006. ...
